I went to a concert tonight thinking it would be a little dull but it turns out the Mahler 1 is pretty exciting. Whoda thunk those Germans could be so enticing. I shouldn’t say that though, I’m pretty German.
My mom showed me this 100 Best Fictional Characters Since 1900 and I think it’s way cool.
Someone, when I was not here, wrote in the dust on top of my TV “E+J” in a heart. I really don’t know. I don’t think I know anyone named J. Maybe I’m not even supposed to be the E. But it’s confusing, and of course I’ve left it there.
I don’t have much to say. School is kind of stressful right now. Our landlord is showing the apartment so we’ve got it nice and clean for now. I know where I’m living this summer, and if you know anyone who needs a room, let me know.
I wish it were time for sandals. At least it’s time for bikes.
Question: How many college seniors do graduation announcements? Are they normal or necessary?
The girls upstairs are normally uncannily unsocial. Last night, though, they were breaking free and playing music and, of all things, talking to each other. I think that normally they don’t talk. They just move chairs around and drag things across the floor. I’m not complaining about the quiet, though. I like it. I just think it’s weird.
Monday I rode my bike. The ride to school was fine, and the ride to the community center was fine, but on the way back I kind of wanted to die. I’m going to try it again tomorrow in the hopes that the more times I do it, the easier the repetitive uphills will be. Also it saves me a lot of time.
I think it’s high time someone wrote a novel in the form of a weblog.
Late Greetings
Saint Patrick’s Day was the other day. I wore green. Work was slow, I think, for everyone except bartenders, and maybe the folks at Irish stores.
I could tell you a lot of stuff about the name Fitzpatrick, by the way. But I won’t, because I think it bores everyone but me and maybe my grandfather. Except to say that if you’re thinking that it’s Norman Irish, it’s not. It’s Gaelic Irish. I caught you there, didn’t I!
I heart Texas.
Texas Hill Country: The Next Napa?
This is like a list of reasons to love Texas. Sadly, it leaves out the best place to get chicken fried steak, near Johnson City, but I understand.
The Current is doing live coverage of the Austin music festival this week, and we listen to it all day at the store. I want to be in Austin.
More Snow
It’s very light out. I asked Emily to watch me out her window when I left her apartment because I had to scrape off Grace’s car and it’s late. But it was really light out. I think there must be a full moon behind the clouds, and then there’s all this ridiculous, bright snow. So it wasn’t that scary. In fact I kinda wanted to stand for a while and stare at it.
Confession: I bought some crocs today. They’re brown. I got matching smartwool socks. They’re light pink.
Unpredicted Visits
I planned on spending the day watching the West Wing season five and not talking to anyone. I ventured out to take Grace to the airport, of course. But my plans for loneliness were foiled when Charles borrowed Grace’s car and then stayed to talk about people for a few hours. We even cooked! Sort of. He had an innovative new idea about where to put our dining room table. I don’t know why you don’t think that’s exciting.
Snow day was fun. It included a wintery hike with Emily and Orlando through feet of snow (to Home Video), falling flat on my back in the middle of my street while walking to her car, which was stuck in the snow and was unstuck by a team effort between Orlando and my landlord, finding Grace a place to go in lieu of Mexico, Joe’s Crab Shack, pi?±a coladas, and losing at Trivial Pursuit DVD edition (or whatever it’s called).
I put my iTunes library on random in the hopes that it would come up with some loud, exciting things. That plan failed.
Snow Day!
I haven’t had one of these since 7th grade. Way to go Macalester. (Of course they would only do it over spring break.) And SP public schools! They’re such good sports.
Meanwhile, there’s a huge fire day in Texas.
