“New” Computer

Miscellaneous | Saturday 30 June 2007 8:57 pm

I got a new MacBook. It’s, um, exactly the same as the old one. Major differences are:

1) the heat sensors work
2) it has 1GB ram instead of 512MB, so that’s nice
3) it smells new
4) the battery is new and so seems to be running for 4 hours

Well that’s all. I got an iPod Nano (blue) to sell. It’s tempting, but pointless, to keep it.

I sold my car!

Just in time for my computer to die. =(

Of course, you could look at it the other way around.

In any case, I have to buy a new one tomorrow, and fortunately I can afford it.

Two of my favorite people got married on Saturday in Albuquerque and it was really nice. Then I got to hang out with them on Sunday which made me feel pretty lucky.

Yes, we’re submitting it to the Macalester Today, although I really still think the picture of the two of them in matching pink polo shirts should be the next cover.

Redefining food…

Dogs | Monday 18 June 2007 5:42 pm

Otto requisitioned a cherry tomato tonight while my mom wasn’t looking. He thinks everything is food. He ate half of a CD the other day. But not this tomato–it was too weird. Instead he pushed it around on the floor, with his paws and his mouth, as Boris watched, attentive, but unable to extract it from Otto’s watchful activity. I think someone (a dog, not one of us) eventually ate it because now it is nowhere to be seen.

Tomorrow’s my birthday and it’s a good thing because I’m feeling kind of down. I don’t think I’m cut out for 9-5 or for being completely broke. Or maybe I just need something to worry about no matter what.

Computer Sadness

Miscellaneous | Sunday 17 June 2007 3:43 pm

So I have this sudden shutdown syndrome thing going on and I think it’s because my fan’s not working. Either the sensor is broken or the fan is broken. Meh. I’m five weeks past my warranty so I’m irritated. I’m going to try to take it in to Macresource this week. In them meantime I can’t catch up on Lost because it shuts down my computer. I’m going to stop talking (writing?) about this now because it just makes me mad.

Dates

France planning,Miscellaneous,Shoes,Traveling | Friday 15 June 2007 10:17 am

I’m at lunch right now in my mom’s office, about to go to the doctor. Fun! I love refilling prescriptions! We’re going to San Antonio this weekend (leaving after work today) to do numerous things…:

1) Pick out tiles for the kitchen floor of the condo (I might not go along for this)
2) Find my MBT shoes
3) Find the title to my car so that I can potentially sell it

I have all sorts of plane tickets now, and am all sorts of broke because of it. Here’s the schedule for the summer:

Tues June 19: I turn 23 (Okay, not travel-relatd, but nonetheless important!)
Sat June 23-Sunday June 24: Abq for Emily and Orlando’s wedding
Friday July 6 – ??? Aug 3: University of Denver Publishing Institute
Monday Sep 3-Tuesday Sep 4: Fly to France!

I think that’s all. If anyone’s in CS in the meanwhile, I’m free to entertain, with the following caveat: I have no money.

Good News

I got a job for next year!

! ! ! !

It’s in Reims. It happened very quickly (less than 24 hours). It’s a huge relief. My parents opened a bottle of champagne they’d forgotten about, just for me. (I was the one who pointed out how fitting it was.) Then we went out for barbeque, which was yummy.

Now, I’m not going to do like normal and immediately find something else to worry about. I swear. At least, I’ll try very hard not to.

I’m in Wisconsin. I went to a baseball game today (my cousin’s). It was so American. It was really fun though. Tomorrow my aunt is throwing a big party for his graduation.

Miscellaneous | Friday 8 June 2007 8:31 pm

I’m going to Wisconsin tomorrow, to my second home. I’m excited. My job’s not too bad, a bit monotonous. but the people are really nice, and I’m making money. I had an epiphany today. I think I want to get a masters in French education. This epiphany was thanks to a conversation with my mom but I don’t remember what provoked it. We may never know…
